Main Characteristics
The solution includes two related applications – an application for family members who manage the care (MyFamily Care) and an application for foreign caregivers (Family Caretaker) who are with the elderly person at home and care for them. Everyone can edit the information relevant to them and view the information entered into the system, as the information is updated in both systems simultaneously. Working with the applications allows for continuous and complete communication between family members and the foreign caregiver, including saving treatment information that is accessible to everyone within the system.
The system allows the construction of a daily schedule that includes providing meals, administering medication, personal care, food, employment, a walk in the garden, bathing, changes in posture, walking practice, taking to the bathroom, etc. Each of the actions can be accompanied by a picture and explanations, allowing the caregiver to document the care provided on a daily basis, including recording and documenting metrics and additional information.
In Better Care for Families, you can manage all of the patient’s appointments, events, and meetings, including doctor’s appointments, family meetings, pedicures, hair salons, and more. The system allows you to record who is accompanying the patient and attach relevant documents, so that everyone involved in the treatment is updated and important events are not forgotten.
In many cases, the foreign caregiver living with the elderly also takes on the role of managing the household. They are responsible for purchasing medications, toiletries, groceries, and more. Through the BetterCare app, you can maintain an organized record of household expenses and document the money given to the caregiver for these purchases. The system allows you to view a monthly expense record, track which family member provided money to the caregiver and how much, see the cost of purchased items, and have all expenses displayed in one place.

Caregivers are entitled to vacation, sick days, and holidays as per the law. The app allows you to record all vacation days taken by the caregiver, indicating which were paid and which were not, whether they worked on a holiday or took the day off, and more. This feature is important both for coordinating vacation days, ensuring everyone knows in advance when the caregiver will be absent so a replacement can be arranged, and for final settlement, where it’s necessary to know how many vacation days were used and how many still need to be paid.
As part of managing care for the elderly, there are tasks that are not part of the daily routine, where each person involved in the care is responsible for different matters, such as scheduling a medical appointment, contacting the National Insurance Institute, or ordering medications. The BetterCare app for families allows both the caregiver and any family member using the system to create a personal task list related to the care. These tasks are consolidated and displayed on the app’s main page, enabling centralized management of all care-related matters and using the system for personal task management.
A good foreign caregiver living in the home is usually familiar with all aspects of the care and knows everything required. The problem arises when a replacement caregiver arrives, or a family member steps in to cover when the caregiver is sick or on leave. The app allows the replacement caregiver to access all care details, appointments, events, and the elderly’s detailed daily routine. This ensures continuity of care and preservation of existing knowledge, even in cases of temporary or permanent caregiver replacement.
When caring for an aging parent or any other patient, it is important to involve other stakeholders such as family, neighbors, and friends. The Better Care for Families app allows the care manager to send invitations to additional care partners. These partners can download the app, log in, and view care information, appointments, events, payments, and more. The more partners know about the care, the less burden the primary caregiver has and the easier and more straightforward the care becomes.
When caring for an elderly parent with frail health, a child with a chronic illness, or a person discharged from the hospital and requiring complex care, one often encounters professional questions and information gaps. In new and crisis situations, professional advice and adjusting the treatment plan accordingly can dramatically affect the elderly person’s condition and improve the quality of life of the patient and family. Better Care maintains contact with experts from various fields – doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, dietitians who provide advice on adjusting the treatment and environment to suit the patient’s needs.
The Better Care app for families allows them to manage the care of multiple patients in the same system. You can work with one or more caregivers and allow the caregiver to view data for multiple patients or one patient, depending on your preference. This way, you can coordinate expectations and build a daily plan that includes all patients and make the necessary details for each patient. For example, one parent requires full nursing care while the other parent only needs help with bathing and serving meals.
When a caregiver is employed through a home care company, a monthly signature sheet documenting work hours must be submitted, signed by the elderly person or a family member, as well as the caregiver. The BetterCare app enables digital management of signatures, the creation of reports for the National Insurance Institute, and sending them directly to the offices through the app. This eliminates the need for manual submission of reports each month.
